Adult Support/Discussion Groups

ACO Parent Salon
Meets on a regular basis at a rotating home throughout the greater Lane County area for snacks and a discussion on adoption-specific topics that are of interest to the attendees (some examples are talking with your child about his/her adoption experience, responding to inappropriate questions/comments from strangers.) Florence Support Group

Junction City Support Group

Lane County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association
Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 7-8:30 p.m. to hear a speaker.

Oregon Family Support Network (OFSN)
For families with children who have behavioral, emotional, or mental health challenges. There are many support groups throughout the state. To enquire about Lane County events contact Lisa Moody at 541-342-2876 or visit their website at www.ofsn.org. There is also a crisis line for Lane County residents at 1-888-989-9990. International Adoption Family Support Groups

Families with Children from China (FCC)
Meets for Chinese New Year and a summer outing. Information on Chinese dance classes. Contact Jane Williams at 541-344-0062.

Holt Family Campout
Families (primarily those who have adopted through Holt, but open to any adoptive families) camp out annually at Honeyman State Park during the first week of August. Usually consists of up to 300 people (babies to teens and adult adoptees) from various cultural backgrounds (including Korea, India, Thailand, Russian, China, Paraguay.) Activities include progressive dinners, art projects, treasure hunts, kite flying and hikes. Contact Debbie Dunham at 360-514-0606 for more information.

India Sub Continent Adoptive Families

Inter-racial Family Support Groups

Communities of Color Network (CCN)
CCN is a safe space to meet new people of color. Meets every 1st Friday of the month from

Families Learning About Adopting Interracially (FLAIR)

Honoring Our New Ethnic Youth (H.O.N.E.Y.)
Interracial, multiracial, and cultural diversity group meets on 2nd and 4th Saturdays during the school year at 601 W. 13th St. for a potluck followed by arts, crafts, or guest speakers. Chinese American Benevolent Association (CABA)
Presents the lion dance at Eugene’s annual Asian Celebration and offers an Asian-American college scholarship.

International Students of Oregon State University
Provides opportunities to educate students and the community about international issues. The group hosts several events, including China Night, Indonesian Night, India Night, and Vietnamese Night. Linn-Benton Community College Diversity Achievement Center
Their mission is to provide opportunities for cultural competency, intellectual enrichment, educational access, and social justice. The center offers food demonstrations, video discussions, and has a small library. Contact 541-917-4461 or for more information.

Lane Community College Multicultural Center
Student clubs, cultural and educational events, small library. Each year the center hosts a Jewish/Muslim event celebrating Hanukah and Ramadan, as well as a Native American Pow Wow. Call 541-463-5276 for more information.

Oregon State University's African Students Association (ASA)

Playgroups

ACO Pine tree Playgroup
For children ages 5 and older. We meet regularly for group activities that include but are not limited to swimming, hiking, roller skating, ice skating, bowling, park play dates, biking, etc. Contact Elise Crum at 541-554-1201 for more information.

ACO Pinecone Playgroup

Single Adoptive Parent and Child Playgroup

Vietnamese Playgroup
Meets every 6 weeks during the year. Children range from ages 4 – 10. Consists of families with adopted children from Vietnam - but also some Vietnamese birth children. Meetings during the winter months are held at Crawfordsville Elementary School gym (6 miles east of Brownsville) from 11:00 - 2:00 with a potluck.
